When you are told: Juice it up
Think: Caution

Yes, juices are healthy and full of nutrients but according to health experts and dieticians, juices are good only if there are natural and fresh and if one doesn’t add in sugar and had in moderation. A fad popularised by many celebrities who swear by it being the perfect way to cleanse the system, it does strip one of much needed essential fibre and proteins. This can be particularly harmful to those who resort to it as the go to solution to lose weight. Another fact, that is sure to pop your eyes, is that juicing up can actually lead to weight gain, as you would need number of fruits to extract a single glass of juice.

Fitness and health expert Neha Shah says, “Fresh juice contains natural sugar called fructose which is also a form of sugar. Hence taking juice in large quantities is in fact bad as compared to eating whole fruits which tend to have more fibre. Canned juice is worse. It has a lot of preservatives which are actually harmful.”
Sohini Shah, consulting clinical dietitian further adds, “Yes, it can be a good source of Vitamin C and potassium, but if a person is diabetic, or trying to lose weight, this advice may do more harm than good. One orange is 60 calories, and it takes four to five oranges to make one glass of juice (not to forget, so many people add table sugar to their juices).”
